Install Technician

Position Description:

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, self- motivated individual with a desire to be challenged to join the team!

Reporting to our Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the installation of wireless units as well as voip telephone and TV units, service calls/trouble shooting, customer testing and customer service.  This person will also work very closely with our tech support and administration departments.

PLEASE NOTE – this is not a piece work position and all required training and certificates will be arranged and provided for by Silo.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess the skills required to operate: hand tools, power tools, ladder, safety harness as well as other safety equipment, computers etc
  • Must be willing to work outdoors year round and keep up to a physically demanding job
  • Cannot be afraid of heights – must climb roofs and TV towers
  • Experience working at heights is an asset
  • Must have good problem solving skills
  • Must work well with little supervision but also thrive in a team environment
  • Must be willing and able to continually learn new technologies/computer platforms
  • Computer networking knowledge is an asset
  • Must be reliable
  • Must possess a valid Ontario class G license with a clean record
  • Must be bondable
  • Must be able to work flexible hours (overtime) as needed

Tier 1 Customer Support

Position Description:

In pursuit of maintaining industry-leading customer service as we continue to grow, Silo Wireless is expanding our Support team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team in a Tier 1 Customer Support role.

Qualifications:

  • Front-line customer service experience required
  • Energetic, positive, and customer-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Developed time management / forecasting skills are essential
  • Must be able to think quickly and effectively prioritize tasks
  • Aptitude for technology and ability to learn on the job
  • Experience working as part of a small team is an asset
  • No previous experience with computer networking or general IT required

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional live support for our Internet, phone and TV services
  • Effectively answer questions regarding our products and services
  • Work closely with technical support team while issues are being investigated
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure the customer’s needs are best met

Technical Support Representative

Position Description:

In pursuit of maintaining industry-leading customer service as we continue to grow, Silo Wireless is expanding our Technical Support team. Successful candidates will have practical experience troubleshooting WAN/LAN/IPv4 networks, with preference given to those whose experience was earned in the ISP environment.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer-oriented, positive, reliable
  • Must be a quick learner and bring a general tech interest- required to stay up-to-date in terms of product, service, and technology platform knowledge
  • Best candidate will be self-motivating, able to dynamically prioritize tasks, and possess well-developed pattern recognition skills
  • VoIP/SIP, OSPF/BGP, IPv6 experience to be considered an asset, but not necessarily required
  • After-hours work may be assigned either for individual events or as part of a rotational schedule

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional live support for our Internet, phone and TV services
  • Effectively answer questions regarding our products and services
  • Responsible for working efficiently to address customer support
  • needs as they are assigned via ticket process, or working in live call queue as demands necessitate

Technical Support Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • 2 years minimum of technical support experience, with proficiency in diagnosing IP network-related issues
  • Team lead/supervisor/management experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-honed problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Positive attitude, open-mindedness, and willingness to learn new concepts and technologies over time as required by the role
  • Wireless, Mikrotik, VoIP/SIP, OSPF/BGP, IPv6 experience to be considered an asset, but not necessarily required

  • Actively support and mentor our in-house team of technical support representatives
  • Work directly with corporate and other high-demand customers to achieve a timely resolve to advanced technical situations
  • Track department KPIs, foster an environment in which their success is prioritized
  • Assist network team with planning and executing projects on our ISP network
  • Coordinate closely with other department supervisors to ensure customer and employee needs are being met effectively and efficiently

ISP Network Engineer

Position Description:

Silo is a leading provider of Internet services in Brant County and surrounding counties. With over 10 years in operation we continue to provide leading edge solutions by constantly reinvesting in the latest technologies.

We are actively seeking a Network Engineer to aid in the maintenance and expansion of our ever growing wireless and fibre networks. The ideal candidate for this position has extensive network engineering experience in the ISP space, will be adaptable to unique network configurations, has a humble attitude, and genuine interest in the field.

Salary to commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years minimum ISP network experience
  • Real-world experience implementing OSPF and BGP routing protocols
  • Proven experience working with DNS and DHCP
  • RF knowledge and experience, while not required, will be considered an asset
  • Mikrotik experience to be considered an asset
  • Well-honed problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Positive attitude, open-mindedness, and willingness to learn new concepts and technologies over time as required by the role

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with leadership and technical teams in order to execute prioritized projects relating to network maintenance and expansion
  • Set up, manage, document, and maintain our network-related services and peripherals, i.e. DNS, rDNS, LTE EPC, etc.
  • Engage in regular network troubleshooting activities and resolve high-level network connectivity issues
  • Analyze the network on an ongoing basis to identify deficiencies and upcoming growth requirements
  • Remain up-to-date in regard to security vulnerabilities and best-practices, and apply this knowledge to our networks wherever applicable
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency network outage response
