Last weekend Silo staff embarked on a full-day rafting trip with Grand River Rafting.
Each of Silo’s employees were given their own single person dingy and ore to navigate the river.
They entered at Glen Morris and floated along for 3 hours, until they reached Birley Gates park in Paris where they got out.
Silo co-owner, Cynthia Wiatowski said that the first part of their adventure was a bit of a workout.
“The first kilometre was the most challenging because of the high winds but after that it got much easier,” she said.
She also mentioned that there was a little snag along the way.
“Emily got stuck on the rocks and Adam had to get out of his dingy to rescue her,” she said.
These challenges only made the trip more memorable.
Karen, Silo’s Billing & AP Supervisor, broke her shoulder a couple months ago but still joined the team on the river. Her raft was tied to her husband Mark’s who helped her along.
Cynthia’s favourite part was seeing the staff enjoy themselves. Silo’s receptionist, Kate had nothing but good things to say about the trip.
“It was a lot of fun. It was good to hang out with coworkers outside of work and it was definitely an adventure,” she said.
After the day of fun in the sun the group enjoyed a catered BBQ at Birley Gates.
Silo has been doing events like these almost every year with the goal of bringing the team together outside of the work environment to bond and get to know each other on a different level.
This was the third successful rafting trip Silo staff have done. Other notable events involved scavenger hunts, archery, baseball games and company BBQs with outdoor activities.
