This time of year, we are reminded to be thankful. Silo is grateful for the incredible organizations within our community whose excellent work brings happiness and health to people’s lives. This year Silo has supported our community through charitable donations to the following organizations who work wonders in our neighbourhoods.
St. Joseph’s LifeCare Foundation – Hike for Hospice & Handbags for Hospice
This year we sponsored St Joseph’s annual Hike for Hospice, a charity walk which raises money to provide care to the terminally ill. St. Joseph’s services are available to the people of Brantford, New Credit, Six Nations, Haldimand, Norfolk and the County of Brant.
We are also sponsoring this year’s Handbags for Hospice, an event which raises funds for the hospice through ticket sales and a designer handbag auction!
This year’s event takes place on October 16th, 2019 at the Best Western Brantford Hotel & Conference Centre and is already sold out!
Nova Vita Heels to Heal Walk

Founded in 1988, the Burford Bulldogs junior hockey team is a pillar of the Burford community who we are pleased to support.
Burford Lions Club
The Burford Lions work to make our community strong. Their biggest achievements are used daily by residents of Brant County. Lion’s Park, which opened in 1967 is a hub of activity and celebration that is enjoyed by thousands. More recently, the club completed the Lions Way walking and bike path which families have been using since it’s creation in 2013!
Lynden Lions Club
Silo also supports the Lynden Lions Club who’s “Imagination Library” program delivers a free book every month to enrolled children from ages 0-5. Their Lynden Lions Memorial Scholarship Fund helps winning high school students by granting them $500 to put toward their education, and their annual Golf Tournament for Children’s Fund helps local schools buy new musical instruments, supplies and classroom tools. Every year, thanks to the Lynden Lions Club the community also celebrates Canada Day right with good food and a parade.
Burford Optimist Club
This club believes that there’s nothing that can’t be accomplished with the power of optimism. They bring that attitude to events like their annual charity Motorcycle Ride and resources like their youth essay writing contest where graduating high school students have a chance to win $1000 to put toward their education.
Burford Dancers helps children stay active by providing dance classes like ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap, musical theatre and more!
Mackenzie Creek Music Fest
The annual Mackenzie Creek Music Festival is a fun filled weekend of camping and great music! This year the event featured veteran artists and up-and-comers from our community and across the country.
Nelson Family Bluegrass Jamboree
Another great opportunity to spend time with family and listen to great music, the Nelson Family Bluegrass Jamboree brings bluegrass artists from the community and beyond! All proceeds from the event are donated to the local food bank.
Woodland Cultural Centre
Silo is proud to support Woodland Cultural Centre, an organization who works to preserve and raise awareness about the Haudenosaunee Indigenous people of the Eastern Woodlands, their history, language, art and culture through their exhibitions and programs.
