As a Network Field Technician, Travers Thompson works to maintain Silo’s network by servicing and upgrading our tower sites.
His day to day involves climbing, digging trenches, installing new cabinets and doing everything in his power to keep things up and running.
“I’m on call 24/7, responding when a site goes down,” he said.
When Travers spotted the Network Field Technician posting on Indeed, he knew he would be a great fit.
“My previous experience was a lot of troubleshooting and electrical work and I had already completed my working at heights training,” he said.
Travers was originally searching for an electrical apprenticeship position and has been pleasantly surprised that this role involves a lot of electrical work.
“Plus, now I can say I’ve climbed a 400ft communications tower. Not a lot of people can say that,” he joked.
Travers says his biggest goal is to have a family and that he and his wife Amanda are planning to soon.
He and Amanda play co-ed hockey and they recently signed up at Evolution Marshall Arts. Travers is thrilled because the school is going to allow them to pick up where they left off in their karate practice. Amanda practiced the art for 22 years and possesses a 3rd-degree black belt, and Travers earned a red belt when he was in his early teens.
The pair also enjoy relaxing at home, playing video games, watching movies and hanging with their dog Ace.
